The ones that trip people up
The 17 times table lists the multiples of 17: 17, 34, 51, 68, 85, 102, 119, 136, 153, 170, 187, 204.
Split 17 into 10 + 7: 17 × 7 is 70 + 49 = 119. Then practise for a few minutes a day, asking the facts in mixed order rather than reciting them.
17 × 7 = 119. It is the same fact as 7 × 17, so learning it once covers both tables.
17 × 12 = 204. A quick way: 17 × 10 = 170, plus 17 × 2 = 34, makes 204.
The last digits of the answers repeat in a cycle: 7, 4, 1, 8, 5, 2, 9, 6, 3, 0.
It is a challenge table beyond the usual 12 × 12. Splitting 17 into 10 + 7 makes every fact manageable.
