The ones that trip people up
The 9 times table lists the multiples of 9: 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, 81, 90, 99, 108.
Finger trick: hold up 10 fingers and fold down the one you're multiplying by. Left fingers are tens, right are ones. Then practise for a few minutes a day, asking the facts in mixed order rather than reciting them.
9 × 6 = 54. It is the same fact as 6 × 9, so learning it once covers both tables.
9 × 12 = 108. A quick way: 9 × 10 = 90, plus 9 × 2 = 18, makes 108.
The last digits of the answers repeat in a cycle: 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0.
The 9s take a little more practice than the easy tables, but the tricks on this page and short daily practice make them stick.
