The ones that trip people up
The 8 times table lists the multiples of 8: 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80, 88, 96.
Double three times: 8 × 7 → 14 → 28 → 56. Then practise for a few minutes a day, asking the facts in mixed order rather than reciting them.
8 × 6 = 48. It is the same fact as 6 × 8, so learning it once covers both tables.
8 × 12 = 96. A quick way: 8 × 10 = 80, plus 8 × 2 = 16, makes 96.
The last digits of the answers repeat in a cycle: 8, 6, 4, 2, 0.
The 8s take a little more practice than the easy tables, but the tricks on this page and short daily practice make them stick.
