The ones that trip people up
The 7 times table lists the multiples of 7: 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, 56, 63, 70, 77, 84.
Split 7 into 5 + 2: 7 × 8 is 40 + 16 = 56. Then practise for a few minutes a day, asking the facts in mixed order rather than reciting them.
7 × 6 = 42. It is the same fact as 6 × 7, so learning it once covers both tables.
7 × 12 = 84. A quick way: 7 × 10 = 70, plus 7 × 2 = 14, makes 84.
The last digits of the answers repeat in a cycle: 7, 4, 1, 8, 5, 2, 9, 6, 3, 0.
The 7s take a little more practice than the easy tables, but the tricks on this page and short daily practice make them stick.
