The ones that trip people up
The 3 times table lists the multiples of 3: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36.
Add the number to its double: 3 × 8 is 8 + 16 = 24. Then practise for a few minutes a day, asking the facts in mixed order rather than reciting them.
3 × 7 = 21. It is the same fact as 7 × 3, so learning it once covers both tables.
3 × 12 = 36. A quick way: 3 × 10 = 30, plus 3 × 2 = 6, makes 36.
The last digits of the answers repeat in a cycle: 3, 6, 9, 2, 5, 8, 1, 4, 7, 0.
The 3s take a little more practice than the easy tables, but the tricks on this page and short daily practice make them stick.
